2025 Winter Drive Initiatives

This year, Elite Involvement brought VCU Athletics and Williams Mullen together in a city-wide Winter Clothing Drive. With collection boxes located at the Firm and VCU Women's Basketball events, the goal of this initiative is to collect outgrown, gently-worn clothing to be handed out to shelters as well as the homeless community in Richmond.

Items we are hoping to receive go beyond coats and gloves. As many of the individuals receiving donations don't have the means to store these items, we are hoping to also collect backpacks, duffle bags and suitcases. Contact Martha Pasado (mpasado@williamsmullen.com) or our Director, Alexandra Owen (halexandraowen@gmail.com) with any questions or comments.

#416Helps Annual Drive

Elite Involvement held its first annual #416Helps Winter Clothing Drive from October through January 2023. We collected over 900 donated items from 9 local sports organizations in the greater Richmond area, in addition to 5 other small businesses locally. Our team and volunteers were able to hand out donations to four community shelters in Richmond, VA, two shelters in Toronto, ON, and three shelters in Washington, DC.

Elite Involvement would like to extend its gratitude to organizations and institutions that helped us collect donations. Winter clothing, including gently-worn coats, hats, jackets, gloves, scarves and blankets were collected in donation boxes throughout Richmond, VA. In addition to donation boxes, we received 96 donations from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Theta Rho Chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University, 69 donations from Midlothian Athletic Club. Extra donations received during the donation period were dispersed in Washington, D.C. with the help of Hoop For All January 20-22, 2023.
